Court provides separate defence counsel to Herojit

Suspended Head Constable Th Herojit has thanked the Court for providing him a separate defence counsel regarding the July 23 Khwairamband bazar case.
He appeared before Sessions Court, Imphal West today.
The next date of hearing has been fixed on March 5.In an application submitted to the Court, Herojit expressed his willingness to disclose all the facts and circumstances leading to the death of Chungkham Sanjit without any prejudice.
He also pleaded the Court to make necessary arrangements to enable him fully disclose the incident.
Herojit also requested the Court to provide a separate defence counsel stating that he cannot afford to hire a lawyer and is unable to move freely.
The application/petition was listed under Cril Misc Case number 20 of 2017 with reference FIR number 7/2010/ 57 2015 of Sessions Court, Imphal West.
During today's hearing, Special Public Prosecutor S Lakhikanta submitted no objection certificate for the appointment of a separate defence counsel of the suspended cop.
Later, advocate N Ibochouba was appointed as Herojit's defence counsel.
The Court then asked Th Herojit to provide the entire necessary relevant documents to N Ibochouba to get ready for the next trial hearing of the case to be held on March 5.Earlier, Herojit turned up at Cheirap Court complex for the hearing along with some members of CSOs and Apunba Lup.
After the hearing, Herojit met his family members before he left the Court complex with CSO members.
Volunteers and leaders of different women organisations were also present at the Court complex.
