Imphal, February 25 2016:
Maintaining that the State Police personnel
were just discharging their duty when they verified a team of the
Naga Students' Federation (NSF) recently, the Meitei Youths
Front, South-East Asia (MESIA) has asked NSF to tender an
apology for banning movement of all vehicles belonging to
Meiteis/Manipuris in Naga areas.
Pointing out that Manipur is inhabited by different commu-
nities, a press release issued by MESIA said that Manipur
Police do not comprise of Meiteis only.
It urged NSF to give back all the documents they confis-
cated from Manipur-bound vehicles.
It also condemned the
alleged inaction of police personnel posted Hengbung check-
post and Senapati District police when the documents were
confiscated.
The situation of alleged lawlessness prevailing in
the hill areas for a prolonged period has created a notion that
rule of law can be defied at will in the valley area too.
The MESIA further lambasted NSF for creating psychological disturbances to students appearing Class X and Class
XII exams.
