Statue of Ph Parijat unveiled at Irawat Park

Showing highest honour and respect to one of the greatest communist leaders of the State, a statue of Pheiroijam Parijat Singh was unveiled today at Irawat Park, Chalou by veteran communist leader Moirangthem Ibohal in the presence of secretary, Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India (CPI) Dr Moirangthem Nara Singh other leaders and followers of CPI.
Regarded as one of the prominent communist leaders of Manipur, Pheiroijam Parijat was born on June 17, 1943 and passed away on March 6, 2015 .
A large number of people from different walks of life attended the function organized by the Pheiroijam Parijat Singh Memorial Trust today.
Floral tributes were paid to the late leader's statue which is also his resting place.

Parijat is one of those communist leaders who took part in various development works following the footsteps of Hijam Irawat, commented Dr Nara.
Unveiling a statue in the name of a great leader is an achievement of CPI, but the ideology and spirit the late leader believed in must be cherished and renewed by the young and old alike, he added.
"The Irawat Park itself and the statue should be to show the spirit and dream of a united Manipur, where there is equality between the rich and poor.
Such dream was what Parijat had", he said.
He said the trust will initiate steps to set up Irawat Institute of Social Sciences in various parts of the State to educate the younger generations of the eminent need of unity and equality.
CPI believes all Left parties should join hands and unite; only then can peace and progress be brought in the State.
Various organizations and parties having the same communist ideology conducted a convention and discussed the problems faced by the people.
Such convention is the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Manipur, he asserted.
People having communist faith and philosophy are welcome to be a part of the new face of Manipur, to bring social justice, equality and all round development.
He urged the people to take up the spirit of the past leaders to bring a change in society.
CPI leader Iboyaima recalled Parijat as a dedicated and committed communist leader who fought for the toiling masses throughout his life.
He said the statue will inspire the party members and the people to follow in the footsteps and believe in the ideology of Hijam Irawat.
Veteran communist leader Moirangthem Ibohal who was a close associate of Hijam Irawat commented that the ideology of communism in the State is to unite the working class and work for the betterment of everyone.
"We must be proud that we once had a communist leader working for the people and we must follow his footsteps", he stated.
Lamlai Local Council, CPI member Bimol also recalled the sacrifices made by Parijat for the people.
As part of the function gifts were presented to elderly CPI members of Lamlai area.
