Chandel, March 06 2016:
The PMEGP Beneficiaries' Association has today alleged the Branch Manager of SBI, Kangshang Branch, Pallel of swindling a huge sum of loan amount after deducting over Rs 1 lakh each from the account of PMEGP beneficiaries 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 .
In a statement, Thokhothanh Haokip, secretary, PMEGP Beneficiaries' Association, Chandel said that the Branch Manager had provided loans to the PMEGP beneficiaries between 2012 and 2014.The Branch Manager then demanded the beneficiaries to deduct some amount as his share.
The Branch Manager even told the PMEGP beneficiaries that they need not repay the loan amount as the bank would recover the loan from the subsidy (35 per cent of the project cost) which would be sanctioned by the Ministry of MSME, Govt of India, he alleged.
The statement further alleged that the Branch Manager sanctioned the loan only after deducting a sum of Rs 75,000 each from the beneficiaries (Rs 45,00 at the time of releasing the 1st instalment and Rs 30,000 during the final instalment).
Apart from that, the Branch Manager also deducted another Rs 30,000 each from the beneficiaries as advance loan recovery.
When enquired about their loan and its statement, the bank including the Branch Manager said that they have no knowledge about the subsidy and in whose account it was kept.
The beneficiaries were also not allowed to update their bank passbooks on the excuse that the printing machine is not working, the statement asserted.
Higher authority concerned should look into the matter and resolve the issue at the earliest.
