After more than a month of the Ministry downsizing effected on July 5, Chief Minister O Ibobi finally managed to work out the delicate intricacies of allotting the portfolios to the trimmed down Ministry, with an official notification being issued today.
As expected the Chief Minister has retained the crucial Home and Finance portfolios besides GAD, Personal and Admn Reforms, Cabinet, Planning, Flection and Departments not allocated to any other Ministers.
Before the allocation of the portfolios was officially announced, the Chief Minister called on the Governor at Raj Bhawan today at 3 pm to get the green signal for the new arrangements.
Sources said that the two were closeted for about 1 hour where they discussed the portfolio allocation.
Former FCS Minister Ph Parijat has been granted Works, Law and Legislative Affairs and Revenue while former Power Minister Phungzathang Tonsing has been allotted Irrigation and Flood Control, Hills and Tribal Development and Transport.
Senior CPI MLA Ph Parijat has been moved from FCS to Agriculture, Minor Irrigation, CADA and Art and Culture while former Works Minister Gaikhangam has been moved to Power, Information and Public Relations and Horticulture and Soil Conservation.
Former TD Minister Ngamthang Haokip is now in charge of Food and Civil Supplies, Forests and Environment and Science and Technology while another CPI MLA N Mangi has been allotted Commerce and Industries, Sericulture, Fisheries, Weight and Measures and Economics and Statistics.
Govindas Konthoujam has retained his earlier portfolio of Public Health Engineering with additional charge of Youths Affairs and Sports and Tourism.
Former MAHUD Minister L Nandakumar has been moved to Health, Family Welfare and Labour and Employment while the lone lady Minister W Leima has been given Co-operation and Social Welfare.

who was earlier in charge of GAD has been moved to Higher and Technical Education, School Education, Adult Education and SCERT.
