Forensic report of vaginal swab, inner clothings etc in town

The haunting question of whether Th Manorama was raped or not before she was done to death will probably he known on Wednesday, with the forensic report of vaginal swab, inner clothings among other samples arriving at Imphal finally.
The report would be submitted by the police before the ongoing State sponsored Inquiry panel on Wednesday.
The officer in-charge of Irilbung Police Station, who is also the Investigating Officer of one of the two FIRs registered in connection with the killing of Manorama today informed the panel that the forensic report of vaginal swabs, inner clothings and other samples of the deceased girl have been brought to Imphal and the same is being kept in the custody of State Forensic Laboratory at Pangei.
Consequently, the Inquiry Commission headed by retired Judge C Upendra has asked the police officer to submit the report before the panel on Wednesday at 11 am.
The samples were sent to a Kolkata based Forensic Science Laboratory to ascertain whether the 32-year old girl was raped or not while in the custody of Assam Rifles.
Manorama was picked up by the troopers of 17 Assam Rifles from her Bamon Kampu residence on the intervening nights of August 10 and 11 after issuing arrest memo and her bullet-riddled body was retrieved by the police from Ngariyan hill range near Yaipharok Maring Village the following morning.
As multiple injury marks on her private parts were detected, people alleged that Manorama was raped before killing by the security personnel.
Meanwhile, the Commission has asked the State authority to send two lawyers to Guwahati to contest the writ petition filed by the Assam Rifles challenging the legality of the panel in summoning Colonel Jagmohon Singh, the Commandant of 17 Assam Rifles for testifying before the panel.
Principal seat of Gauhati High Court headed by Justice BK Sharma on Thursday last issued an interim order staying the personal appearance of the Commandant before the panel.
Since the verdict covers only the Commandant, the Commission" on Friday asked the other four witnesses of the Assam Rifles, namely Naik Subedar Digamber Dutt, Havildar Sureshkumar, Riflemen Ajit and T Lotha to depose before the panel on Wednesday.
But AR lawyer submitted that the four were out of station.
