Imphal, August 23:
Taking into consideration the fact that the stand of the Manipur Forward Youth Front to snap all ties with mainland India has been discussed at the Parliament and other high level talks and noting the suffering of the Manipuri people, the youth body has today decided to relax its earlier stand for the time being.
Informing this in a statement to the press today, MAFYF however made it clear that the demand for the complete revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act from the entire State will continue unhindered.
Blasting the SPF Government, the statement said that it is the chief Minister and the State Police Department which have been flouting all democratic norms in dispersing the peacefully staged dharnas and rallies.
The statement further said that it will not make any difference to the people whether PR is imposed or not and added that the warning sounded out by some political parties that PR may be imposed is nothing but to dilute the movement and save their chair.
With or without PR, the people will continue to live under the black laws and thus it does not make any differences to the people, said MAFYF.
The demand of the people is nothing short of the complete revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act from the State, it added.
