NE States to discuss National Highways issues

For the first time after the NDA came back to power at the Centre, a meeting of all the Northeastern States would be held at New Delhi to discuss about National Highways.
The meeting would be held as a subsidiary one to the review meeting of all the States convened by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.
The review meeting would focus on the National Highways of the Northeastern region on June 24.The meeting would deliberate on National Highways being constructed/would be constructed in the Northeastern region including Manipur.
Manipur would be represented by the Principal Secretary (Works) and the PWD Chief Engineer in-charge at the review meeting, informed a source.
They would present a report on the status of the National Highways currently under the care of the State Government including Mao-Imphal-Moreh highway.
Imphal-Jiribam highway may also figure at the meeting.
As such, officials from the Border Roads Organisation are also likely to attend the meeting, the source further said.
