AMADA to organize mass anti-drug rally on June 26

Imphal, June 22 2014:
In connection with the observance of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26 June, All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Narcotics Affairs and Border (NAB) will be organizing a mass rally in Imphal.
This was stated by Ph.
Phoni Meitei, Secretary General of AMADA during a press conference held at its office at Keishamthong Laisom Leirak here today.
Informing that the mass rally would be flagged off at 8.00 am from the premises of Iboyaima Shumang Lila Sanglen at Palace compound, he said that the rally after going along Pureiromba Khongnangkhong, New Checkon, Hatta, Soibam Leikai, Nongmeibung, Wangkhei and Konung Mamang, would wind up again at Iboyaima Shumang Lila Sanglen, where a public meeting is scheduled to be held.
On this 7th observance of the Day being organized by AMADA, it would be presenting this year's award "The Marvel" to the 'The Sana Leibak Nachom Artistes' Association', which will also display its play entitled "Mangluraba Lan" at the venue, he said.
The award carries a cash amount of Rs.5,000/- along wth a memento and a certificate.
Citing the importance of saving the youths of the state from drugs, Phoni said 'Let us save our youths from drug abuse for a better society, as drugs kill the precious lives of human beings' .
AMADA Secretary General, while soliciting public support and cooperation in the successful observance of the Day, also appealed to all organizations not to call Bandh or General Strike on this day.
President of AMADA M.Padamani Leima and NCB Intelligence Officer Samuel C.Hangzo were also present at the press meet.
