Transporters to cease work from today

Imphal, June 22 2014:
Demanding the release of the abducted bus driver Thokchom Ingobi, who is said to be in the custody of KCP-MC (Lamyanba Khuman) group, all the services of public transports originating from Imphal to outside Manipur will stop from 6 am tomorrow.
Announcing this, Secretary of All Manipur Night Super Drivers Welfare Association Laishram Irabot today said not only the buses but also the Tata Winger van services and Nagaland State Transport (NST) buses plying between Imphal and Dimapur/Kohima will stop their services from tomorrow.
Irabot further informed that a joint meeting of the transporters would also be convened at 2 pm tomorrow to discuss further course of action to be taken up.
It may be noted here that Inter-state buses originating from Imphal have halted their services since the morning of June 19 following lapsing of the deadline given by Association for releasing the abducted driver.
Thokchom Ingobi (35), s/o Nimai of Khongjom Mamang Leikai under Thoubal district, who drives the luxury bus bearing registration no.MN 01-1785, was reportedly abducted by some armed cadres of KCP-MC (Lamyanba Khuman) group from a hotel at Jakhalabanda, Assam on June 13 late night.
Meanwhile, out of 37 buses stranded outside the state fearing possible more abduction of drivers by he same armed outfit, 18 of them arrived here today.
