Imphal, June 22 2014:
Kuki National Front has said that it always appreciates any individual or group be it UG outfit or civilian working for the cause of the community at large and would always continue to do so.
Reacting to the press statement issued by KRA regarding shooting of Hatjaneng on June 17, a press statement said that KNF has sent out a clear message that it is not a question of KNF supporting abduction or kidnapping but it is a question of how KRA is policing the area with arms against the SoO ground rules.
SoO ground rules are laid to be followed by all SoO signatories, KRA does not have the right to deploy its cadres with arms outside the designated camp whatsoever, said the press release issued by its information and publicity secretary LH Stephen.
It added that KNF appreciates KRA's idea of trying to protect workers from abductors but they must have informed the Assam Rifles posted in the nearest location and the job should have been carried out by security forces.
KNF now questions why Assam Rifles and the police are sitting duck if protection is required by workers or contractor(s) carrying out development work in the same route, the press release said.
It questioned whether KRA cadres are entrusted to provide security to the workers and contractor(s) .
Demanding removal of armed cadres from this route, the press statement said that movement of a particular UG group with arms is an indirect threat to the public as well as to other SoO signatory groups.
KNF also questioned the State Government and the security forces why they are remaining mum on the issue.
KNF also requested the State Government to intervene and do the necessary course of security preparations if required so that UG movement with arms is stopped for better understanding between KRA and KNF in the area.
