Imphal, September 21 2015:
Even though the State Government is yet to implement the National Food Security (NFS) Act, the Government of India has agreed to sanction the State's rice quota for three months for APL, BPL and AAY schemes.
The Government of India was withholding the State's rice quota for the months of October, November and December for APL, BPL, AAY, Additional APL and Additional BPL schemes because of the State Government's failure to implement NFS Act.
According to information received from CAF&PD Department, the Government of India has agreed to release the State's rice quota for the three months for APL, BPL and AAY.
However, the Union Government is still withholding the State's rice quota for the three months for Additional APL and Additional BPL.
Nonetheless, the State Government has been lobbying with the Centre to release the State's rice quota for Additional APL and Additional BPL too.
As the Government of India has released the State's rice quota for the next three months, due process has been initiated to ship in rice.
