Imphal, December 11 2010:
Sharply reacting to the statement of Imphal DSP Ibomcha that the RPF/PLA has launched a specific operation targeting non-Manipuris under code name Operation Wakching, the RPF has categorically clarified that the outfit is not involved in any such operation to kill non-Manipuris.
A press release issued by the outfit's assistant publicity secretary GM Changjou asserted that the State Government has been taking advantage of RPF's advice to non-Manipuris to leave Manipur for safer places as they are no longer secure here.
Stating that any operation of such magnitude like the Wakching Operation cannot be executed by a civilian couple and another with a small arm, the outfit has denied any connection between the outfit and Mutum Tarun alias Bung (35) of Uripok Khaidem Leikai, Shijagurumayum Raj Sharma alias Kokoton (47) of Keishampat Thokchom Leikai and his wife Sh (O) Bijaya (43) who were arrested on December 9 .
However, one 9 mm mouser pistol, one magazine and 10 live rounds left with Kokoton on the same belonged to the PLA, the outfit admitted.
DSP Ibomcha's statement that the arrested trio were involved in the killing of non-local ballon hawker Gajendra Singh from Bihar on November 6 at Keishampat and that Bijaya was involved in carrying and hiding weapons are all baseless, fabricated propaganda aimed maligning the image of RPF.
These are all parts of the ploy devised by police to pull up and harass innocent civilians by accusing them of having links with revolutionaries or armed groups, the outfit alleged.
