Chanura Microfin Manipur (CMM) celebrated its 2nd annual women's meet at BOAT, Palace Compound with Education Minister L Jayantakumar Singh and CMM chairman th ibochou Singh as the chief guest and president respectively.
Former Chairpersons of Manipur Women's Commission Dr Ch Jamini and MU's Head of Department (Pol Sc) Prof Ksh Bimola Devi also graced the occasion as the guests of honour.
As a part of the annual event, one Khaidem Sobita of Tera Yengkhom Leirak was honoured with the 'best Chanura' award in recognition of her determination and tireless effort as the sole bread winner of the family after her husband passed away leaving two children behind.
Sobita is informed to have sustained the family earning within financial assistance of the CMM, an NGO working for the economic upliftment of the weaker section of the society, particularly women facing economic hardships.
Moreover, four women namely K Anuradha of Takhel, M Nirmala of Wangkhei, N Sangita of Brahmapur Leikai and Th Tombi of Tera Yengkhom were chosen for conferment of Chanura Best Leader awards.
Apart from the speakers applauding CMM's contribution towards development of the society, its CEO PK Khuman presented a brief account of CMM's achievement since its inception in april 2007 .
It is said that the CMM caters to the financial and technical requirements of over 11,000 clients in various parts of the State.
Traditional and entertainment programmes were also organised during the event.
