All preparations for the ensuing bye-elections polls to Konthoujam Assembly constituency, which will be held on October 13 from am till 4 pm, are being geared up.
Issuing a notice, L Heramani Singh Returning Officer of the Konthoujam Kendra AC has informed the contesting candidates and election agents of the details of the polls.
In the event of any eventuality, the re-poll will be on October 15 between the fixed time.
All the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and other polling material will be deposited at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West District, Lamphelpat.
Candidates and elections agents may accompany the poling teams, if they desire to do so.
However, they should make their own arrangements for the transport and they should not travel in the same vehicle in which the EVMs and other election materials are transported.
The EVMs will be stored in Room No F/22 1st Floor of the office of the Deputy Commissioner under the lock and key and sealed by the returning officer.
Candidates and elections agents who desire to affix their seals may also do so and have been informed to attend at the time of closing the room.
Candidates may also post their election agents to keep a watch at the place where the EVMs are stored pending the counting, for which they nave to apply to the returning officer intimating full name, address of the agents.
Those who have affixed their seals must also be present on October i 6 during the time of opening the store room for counting the votes.
If the agents are absent, the locks will be broken for counting the votes, which will start at 8 am on October 16 at Room no 16/17 in the office of the deputy commissioner, Imphal west where fourteen tables will be laid.
Altogether, 23 postal ballot papers were issued, twenty-two for electors and one NSA detainee.
