In a heinous crime, an orphan boy of 18 was found murdered by bludgeoning with a blunt weapon on the head mercilessly in a paddy field near a public pond at Malom Tera Khepun under Nambol police station in Imphal west district this morning.
The motive behind the murder is suspected to be linked with the issue of properties to be inherited from his father's family.
Three suspects in the murder case were rounded up by Nambol police during investigation into the case after an FIR had been lodged.
The murdered orphan teenager has been identified as Sanjenbam Noinoisana @ German, at present living with his grandmother at his mother's parental home at Malom Tulihal Makha Leikai, leaving behind his father's house last Monday.
His father, Chaudhuri and mother, Sanahanbi had died around 10 years back.
Before he came to stay at his grand mother's house, he had been staying with his aunt (younger sister of his father) at Uripok Tourangbam Leikai, and was studying in Class-IX at St Savio School, Lamphel.
He was found bludgeoned to death this morning in a paddy field while his whereabouts remained untraced since last night.
He was found missing under mysterious circumstances when his grandmother, who was with him watching TV, went into the kitchen to serve meals of the night after the current went off.
The dead body of the teenager with marks of injury caused by hitting with some blunt weapon on the head was found by the locals this morning at about 7 am.
Local sources said that the boy was allegedly tortured by the family of his father by levelling different charges against him.
Unable to bear with the atrocities meted out to him, he left the house and stayed at the house of one Ningthoujam Ibochoubi of Uripok Sorbonthingel, a relative.
He refused to go back to the house even though the family members came to fetch him.
Later, he went to the house of his grandmother at Malom Tulihal Makha Leikai.
Police rounded up three persons, all relatives of the deceased youth as suspects in the murder case.
However, police refused to disclose the names of the suspects stating that they were interrogating to extract details and motive behind the murder.
