Throwing its weight behind the demand raised by the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO to implement the recommendations of the 6th Pay Commission in its entirety, general secretary of the All India State Government Employees Confederation, K Balasubramaniam, today met the Chief Minister and urged him to extend the rightful dues to the State Government employees.
Addressing a news conference at Hotel Yaisna at MG Avenue today, Balasubramaniam said that he has come to extend solidarity to the striking members of the JAC.
The general secretary said that soon on his arrival he met members of the JAC who are on strike as well as the aged pensioners who are on relay hunger strike demanding the implementation of the 6th Pay Commission.
He added that the demand of the JAC is totally justified.
Narrating his meeting with the Chief Minister, Balasubramaniam said, "During the meeting, I told the Chief Minister that the demand of the JAC is justified and urged him to fulfil their demand.
To my urging, the Chief Minister replied that due to the poor financial condition of the State, he is not in a position to release the arrears as demanded by the JAC" .
The Chief Minister however said that talks will be held with the JAC to chalk out a resolution, said Balasubramaniam and added that the CM also assured that the three arrested JAC members would be released soon.
"After listening to the CM , I suggested that the due arrears effective from January 1, 2006 may be released in instalment," said Balasubramaniam.
On the plight of the pensioners, the general secretary said that he urged the Chief Minister to release the dearness relief arrear of 174 weeks as per the 6th Pay Commission.
The Chief Minister was also urged to pay the part time, contract and casual employees as per the Central norms, he added.
A mass rally by Govt employees would be staged across the country on May 6, he informed.
