Tamenglong, August 01 2012:
Zeliangrong Baudi (ZB), Manipur has demanded a full-fledged Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Tamenglong district at the earliest possible.
According to a memorandum submitted to the Health Minister, ZB pointed out that in 2007-08, the posts of CMO in all the nine districts of Manipur were given the GR-2 of Manipur Health Services (MHS) by removing all the GR-3 officers.
However, in the last part of 2008, Dr Chambo Gonmei, District TB Officer was appointed as the CMO in-charge of Tamenglong defying the Rules and Regulations of MHS.
The memorandum further pointed out that in 2010, Dr L Saratchandra, Grade-2 of MHS, was also posted as CMO in-charge but he was later replaced by Dr Gaithaorung, MHS GR-2 .
Surprisingly, again, following an order of the Secretariat, Health Department, Manipur issued on July 25, 2012, Dr Chambo Gonmei, District TB Officer was appointed as the CMO in-charge of Tamenglong.
The memorandum jointly signed by Disuang Panmei, Vice Chairman of ZB and Poukham Maringmei, State Secretary of ZB also appealed to the health Minister to appoint a full-fledged CMO at the earliest and said that the arbitrary policy of transfer and posting of the state government is nothing but a step-motherly treatment.
