MMTA to lead first NE India Everest Summit

The Manipur Mountaneering and Trekking Association (MMTA) will be leading the first ever North East India Mt Everest Summit next year.
The Everest summit exclusively for climbers from North East India is being organised by the Government of Manipur and is funded by the North Eastern Council (NEC) at a total cost of Rs 3 crore.
Out of the Rs 3 crore, NEC is funding 2.7 crore.
State Chief Minister Okram Ibobi is the Chief Patron of the summit attempt while Chief Secretary, Govt of Manipur DS Poonia will be the Chef De-Mission.
The expedition will flagged off from Imphal on February 15, next year and the second leg flag off will be held in New Delhi on March 20.During the 35 days before the second leg is flagged off, the expedition team will undergo the final seasoning and team formation at Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi.
The summit is being targetted to made between May 13 to 21 .
Apart from the first ever expedition by NE climbers exclusively, Anshu Jamsenpa, the first lady climber from Arunachal Pradesh who has scaled Mt Everest twice is also part of the expedition team.
Besides, N Chingkheinganba, a 15 years old boy from Manipur will be the youngest climber to scale the Mt Everest after the completion of the expedition.
