Bhutan Consul inaugurates Don Bosco University's Academic Year

Consul General of Bhutan in West Bengal and Assam His Excellency, Dasho Tsering Wangda, inaugurated the fifth academic year of Assam Don Bosco University at its Azara Campus, 31 July.
"People today are being inexorably drawn towards our own doom by adopting a creed of materialism, consumerism and greed," the Consul General said urging the gathering to review one's attitude in order to make life more meaningful by conserving the environment and contributing to the "Gross National Happiness" .
In his welcome address, the Vice Chancellor Dr.Stephen Mavely, recalled Don Bosco Society's association with Bhutan some decades ago with the setting up of a Technical School, which has now become Royal College of Engineering at Phuntsohling.
He then expressed the University's desire to begin a vibrant collaboration with the Kingdom of Bhutan in the field of higher education.

After welcoming the first year students and their parents, Dr Mavely presented the theme for the new academic year: "churning dreams into goals" .
While the Principal of DBCET Azara, Prof.Manoranjan Kalita briefed students on the general rules of conduct in the college and introduced the management and staff members, the Registrar Prof.Basil Koikara, briefed the new comers about University norms and regulations.
The Controller of Examinations Dr.V.A.Cyriac took the opportunity to highlight the value addition in the higher education system.
A glimpse of the past academic year, a short skit and dances added colour to the day's event.
