Imphal, August 01 2012:
First death anniversary of the two students killed in the Sangakpham blast triggered by NSCN-IM was observed at Chingmeirong Primary School today.
The blast claimed five innocent lives and injured seven others.
Chingtham Neha alias Aping and Philaso Awungshi were two innocent students also lost their lives in the incident.
AMSU President Th Suresh and Head Mistress of Chingmeirong Primary School, S Mema graced the function as Chief Guest and President respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, AMSU President Suresh said that investigation and punishments of the culprits by the state government and its law enforcing agencies are almost nil in Manipur.
It is a well known fact that the Sangakpham blast was triggered by NSCN-IM.
Unfortunately, the state government has failed to provide justice to the victims despite knowing the culprits.
He further said that students and people of the state should stand united against any threat to the student community, be it from UG organisations or the state government.
Father of Neha, Chingtham Basanta said that the bomb blast which claimed five innocent lives was an act of cowardice of NSCN-IM.
It is very unfortunate that the state government has remained silent even after knowing that NSCN-IM was directly involved in the blast.
He appealed to the state government to arrest the accused persons and punish them as per the law so that the family of the victims could get justice.
