Quoting Assam Rifles authorities, a PIB Defence Wing statement today claimed that Rameshwar was killed when he accidentally fell into a road side nullah while running away from AR personnel out of fear.
Nevertheless, Assam Rifles authorities have ordered an independent staff Court of inquiry to investigate the incident and full co-operation would also be extended to police investigation on the incident, the statement stated.
Presenting the AR version on the incident, the PIB Defence Wing statement said that the AR convoy was proceeding towards Saikul when the IED blast occured resulting in overturning of the AR vehicles.
Fortunately there were no casualties.
On hearing the incident, a column of Assam Rifles from Sagolmang post reached the site to nab the perpetrators of the blast.
The party while inquiring about the incident notice that six civilians from the village started running away and after a chase apprehended them.
During the chase, one civilian named Ahanthem Romeshor accidentally fell into a small nullah and when he was taken out, started shivering in a state of fits.
He was administered medical attention by the AR medical staff immediately.
