The Working Committee of the Apunba Lup has strongly condemned the alleged killing of a civilian after picking him up from his work place at Pukhao Leitanpokpi and beating up six innocent persons by personnel of 13 Assam Rifles in the follow up action of the IED blast triggered by unidentified persons on a convoy of the AR yesterday.
A statement jointly signed by co-ordinators of the Lup, A Langdon Leima, Chongtham Surjit and Laishram Bablu, said the action of the security personnel on innocent people of the State even as the people are demanding repeal of AFSPA from Manipur is condemnable in the strongest term.
The Lup asserted that 34-year old Ahanthem Rameshor of Bamon Kampu was an innocent civilian who earned his livelihood as a brick layer.
He was killed after he was picked up from his work-place at Pukhao Leitanpokpi while six others were beaten up blue and black are being hospitalised.
Yesterday's incident was yet another incident of the State sponsored terrorism perpetrated by security forces of the State which is a signatory of the Convention Against Terror (CAT), Lup decried, while appealing to the people to oppose State sponsored terrorism.
The Manipur Forward Youth Front has also strongly condemned the killing of A Rameshwar and forcing the people of Litanpokpi to clear up the thick undergrowth on either side of the road.
These instances go to show how the Indian army view the people of Manipur, said MAFYF in a statement and exhorted the people to intensify their stand against the imposition of AFSPA.
