LNC-Eastern Zone presses Govt for clearance of IT Road

The Liangmai Naga Council-Eastern Zone (LNC-M) in its press statement had made a clarion call to the Government of Manipur and concerned department to address and effectively implement necessary measures to fix the socio-economic and interstate connecting Imphal-Tamenglong road popularly known as IT Road.
The said road had been cut-off due to landslide with a portion at Thonglang Atongba village under Kangpokpi sub-division which had sunk.
Addressing the issue under "Hydrological hazard," the Liangmai Naga Council, Eastern zone addressed the issue on behalf of the people residing in and around the connecting road, for quick action to mend the issue.
The road is reportedly the lifeline to most of the occupants depending on the products from mostly from farming and gathering along the route.
The landslide and sunken portion that occurred some 10 days back had totally cut off the route thereby halting daily bus services to Tamei, taxi services, auto services and other vehicles.
The affected area at Thonglang Atongba village which is reportedly about 20 kms from Kangpokpi and the landslide is of about 80-90 feet stretch and the sunken portion about 100 feet had affected more than 10 households of the said village.
The affected families are totally devastated after the landslide hit their homes tearing the walls, roofs, floors and even their hard toiled fields at Thonglang Atongba Village.
