Imphal, December 17, 2011:
The United Kingdom based Higher on Maiden, the official Iron Maiden tribute band actually rocked a sizeable music loving Imphal crowd at the chilly wind filled Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre here Thursday night.
Higher on Maiden [previously known as Hi-on Maiden]'s vocalist Ian Mickensie's tireless performance with maiden's thrilling tracks--highway to hell, two minutes to midnight, fear of the dark, phantom of the opera, number of the beast-along with his colleagues Paul Hewiton (guitars)Martin Strickson (Bass),Steve Parry (Guitar and backing vocals) and Steve Bennet(Drums) heat up the more than one and half hours long head banging session of this year end till the band winded up with 'Run to the Hills'.
Kudos to New Delhi based Seven Sisters Entertainment, Imphal based event management group Oriental pumpkin and the last but not the least official media partner GoManipur for making the spectacular show happened here, feels a hard core Iron Maiden fan in Imphal.
The crowd doesn't seem to bother the ticket rate (Rs 300) as they sings along in perfect harmony, cheering, dancing and in peace in the tune of the visiting Hi-On Maiden troopers.
After all the crowd look mature before an international band.
"Indeed it was a great show," shares a popular musician.
"The best shows I've ever watched in Imphal.
They are not less than the original Iron Maiden. The sound and light were excellent comparing to all the previous gigs in Manipur.
The crowd including myself enjoyed to its fullest.
No fighting...just kept on jumping, yelling till the end of the show…".
The five member musician team landed here on December 12 for the Ukhrul gig on the following day prior to yesterday night's spectacular show as part of their week long tour in North East under the aegis of New Delhi based Seven Sisters Entertainment (SSE).
The objective of the tour, according to Sunny Shimray who is the key functionary behind the show,is to build a bridge for North East bands to interact, share ideas and take support from International Bands towards the global music scene as well as to bring world class shows to the music fans.
