Hills join Patriots' Day observance

Paying rich tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the sake of protecting the sovereignty of Manipur, Patriots' Day was also observed at General Thangal Ecological Park, Mayangkhang, Senapati today.
Organized jointly by District Administration, Senapati and Patriots' Day Celebration Committee, the observance was attended by people of various ethnic communities settling in Mayangkhang area.
The observance kicked off with a gun salute to the martyrs and it was followed by a patriotic song presented by members of T Khullen Brothers.
The function was graced by Francis Ngajokpa, Minister for RD&PR and Economics and Statistics; Ngamthang Haokip, Minister for IFCD and Printing and Stationary and MLA Preshow Shimray as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Francis Ngajokpa said that participation of people of various communities in the Patriots' Day observance to show respect to the departed souls of the martyrs would definitely play a big role in bringing about emotional integrity in the state.
We all need to remember the sacrifices made by the martyrs for the sake of our motherland, Minister Francis added.
Delivering the Presidential speech, Minister Ngamthang Haokip pointed out the need to protect and preserve Thangal General Ecological Park for future generation and assured that the state government would be discussing the matter.
Speaking as Guest of Honour of the function, MLA Preshow Shimray observed that we cannot change the historical facts of the state and so we need to follow the path of our ancestors.
The function was also attended by H Rupachandra, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Senapati; Pushpanjali, SP of Senapati; Sapamcha Jadumani, President of FREINDS; K Modhumangol, Senior Journalist and chiefs of various villages as special invitees.
Patriots' Day observance was also held at DC's Chamber located in the Ukhrul Mini Secretariat Complex under the leadership of John Laltingkhuma, DC, Ukhrul.
Speaking on the occasion, John Laltingkhuma said that we should never forget the martyrs' of the state who have sacrificed their lives for the sake of motherland.
They should be our source of inspiration.
Floral tributes were offered to the photos of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General on the occasion.
The function was also attended by many district level officers and staffs of different departments.
