Imphal, July 31 2013:
The State Government cannot remain silent and go by the 'deceiving words' of IOC, instead it should try to find out the truth and take up immediate actions so that the problems of fuel scarcity being faced by the people are solved at the earliest, Transporters and Driver's Council (TDC) has stated.
Addressing media persons in this regard at its Gandhi Avenue office here today, H Ranjit, President of TDC, informed that IOC has 470 Oil Tankers at its disposal at present.
But IOC is engaging only 100 oil tankers to ferry fuels for reasons best known to them.
Without engaging all the 470 oil tankers for ferrying the required fuel, people in Manipur will obviously suffer from fuel scarcity.
The State Government should understand this and never go by the deceiving words of IOC, Ranjit said.
He further asserted that the statement of IOC that it cannot provide oil tankers to ferry fuel to Manipur not more than once in a month is a total lie.
"TDC had ferried 102 oil tankers in the State on July 23.On 24th July, empty trucks left Imphal and returned to Imphal on July 29 along with 30 trucks laden with petrol, 19 trucks with diesel, 19 trucks with LPG cylinders and two trucks with SK oil.
Even yesterday, 9 petrol trucks, 10 diesel trucks, 1 SK oil truck and 5 LPG trucks left Jiribam for Imphal", Ranjit pointed out.
Asserting that no trucks will reach Imphal unless they have been sent from Imphal to ferry essential commodities, TDC President observed that if the Chief Minister gives a written instruction, then IOC will surely bring out all the oil tankers for using them to fuel essential commodities to the people's satisfaction.
He further stated that if the IOC continues to act in such a manner, then it would be regarded as anti-people.
The State Government should also appoint transport contractors for plying along Imphal-Jiribam road and engaged them in ferrying fuel, or else the TDC will be compelled to take up various agitations.
