Imphal, July 31 2013:
Manipur claimed the boys regu event title with a 15-6, 15-7, 15-6 victory over Delhi while the girls outlasted Uttar Pradesh 15-8, 15-9, 15-10 to bag the top honour in the 16th Sub Junior National Sepaktakraw Championship which concluded at Khuman Lampak indoor Stadium today.
Nagaland jointly secured the third place in both categories along with Karnataka and Andhra pradesh respectively.
On the penultimate day of the championship yesterday, Manipur had pocketed the sub-junior boys and sub-junior girls team event titles with Uttar Pradesh preventing a clean sweep by the hosts winning the sub-junior girls double title defeating West bengal.
In the 3rd East Zone championship held at the same venue, Manipur defeated Nagaland 15-8, 15-13, 15-2 to wrest the men's double title with the State eves overcoming their Nag-aland counterparts 15-8, 15-12, 13-15, 15-10 to wrest the crown.
Manipur had also secured the top title in men's and women's regu events in the zonal competition.
The closing ceremony cum prize distribution ceremony was held today with PHE Minister I Hemochandra Singh, Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir and Sepaktakraw Federation of India secretary general Yogender Singh Dahiya as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
