Imphal, July 31 2013:
Volunteers of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), North East today staged a protest demonstration at the gate of IOC oil depot, Chingmeirong alleging the public sector corporation of creating artificial price rise in fuel and petroleum products in Manipur.
The demonstrators held placards that read as 'do not create artificial price rise', 'artificial price rise is against the people of Manipur', 'resign DGM of IOC' and 'resign incompetent Minister'.
BJYM North East co-in-charge Somorjit Pukhrambam questioned why the Government has failed to make an effective arrangement to ship in fuel oil and petroleum products.
Saying that the distance between Rampur and Imphal is hardly 120-130 km, he suggested to construct an oil pipeline from Rampur to have uninterrupted supply of petroleum products to the State.
He pointed out that it would not be hard for India to construct a pipeline for the State as the country can construct pipelines from far away Iran.
Saying that BJYM would talk to Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio regarding revamping of NH-2, Somorjit said that BJYM would also press the Central BJP leaders to bring the issue of NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam road) in the Parliament.
