The Joint Coordination Committee of Tribal organisation Manipur (JCCTOM) has expressed gratitude to the BJP led State Government for fulfilling the assurance given in respect of the new Joint Director, Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Imphal .
A press release issued by Co-convenor of JCCTOM stated that the offer letter was given to the new Joint Director by the previous Government but the contract agreement as stipulated in the offer letter was not allowed to sign, thereby affecting the proper functioning of the Institute .
Regarding the matter, JCCTOM met the Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister in which a representation was submitted and the grievances were addressed .
The JCCTOM members also met with the Chief Minister where he gave his assurance that the new Joint Director, TRI would be allowed to sign the contract agreement and join the office soon, it stated .
Accordingly, Dr Gaikhamsin Riamei signed the contract agreement on December 20 and the new Joint Director, TRI joined the office from December 22, it added .
It further lauded the State Government for considering the grievances of the tribal communities and expressed hope that the State Government would not overlook other problems faced by the tribal communities .
It also wished grand success to the Government and also conveyed Christmas and new year wishes to all the communities residing the State.
