Emphasising on the need to apprise the people especially women about the welfare programmes initiated by the Central Government and the State Government, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC MLA S Subhaschandra it has become mandatory for the beneficiaries to open bank account to avail the financial assistance under various schemes being given through Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) mode .
He said this during an awareness programme on various welfare programmes taken up by the Governments at Meitram under Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC today .
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Subhaschandra asserted that the country including the North East region has witnessed a significant change in terms of development and governance with the formation of BJP-led Government at the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi .
He said that a slew of development programmes have been implemented successfully and many are in the pipeline .
Following suit, the State Government under Chief Minister N Biren has taken up many development programmes both in the hills and the valley, he maintained .
He declared that there is a plan to convert Mekola PHC into CHC and in this regard a Cabinet memo has been prepared .
The MLA also assured that financial assistance from MLA Local Area Development Fund would be extended to make Meitram as a model village .
In this connection, Rajya Sabha MP K Bhabananda will be urged to extend all possible help, he continued .
Elaborating on Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), the MLA appealed to the representatives of Gram Panchayat to hold meetings in their respective areas to identity the beneficiaries who are yet to enrol in Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011 and submit their names to the concerned Deputy Comissioners .
If their names are enrolled in SECC, the beneficiaries would get certain benefits from next year.
The rural development ministry had decided to use the SECC data in all its programmes such as MGNREGA, National Food Security Act, and the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, he explained.
He informed that SECC 2011 is also the first paperless census in India conducted on hand-held electronic devices by the Government in 640 districts .
He appealed to the beneficiaries to use the money sanctioned under PMAY accordingly .
Taking part in the programme as guest of honour, Lourembam Lotika, general secretary of Mahila Morcha, BJP Manipur Pradesh spoke at length about the welfare programmes taken up under the aegis of PM Narendra Modi .
Loitongbam Indrajit, president of BJP Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Mandal presided over the awareness programme.
