World Diabetes Day held

Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) Cell, National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke, Thoubal in collaboration with District Health Society, Thoubal and Lions Club of Greater, Thoubal Centurion organised World Diabetes Day at Waikhom Mani Girls College, Thoubal seminar hall today.
With "Women and Diabetes : Our rights to a healthy future" as the theme, the programme was attended by District health Society, Thoubal, Mission Director as well as CMO, Thoubal, Dr N Jayantakumar Singh as chief guest, District hospital, Thoubal, Medical Superintendent, Dr N Hemantakumar Singh as president, Waikhom Mani Girls College, Thoubal Okram, Principal Dr O Ibeton Devi, District Health Society, Thoubal District Programme manager, Ch Basanta Singh, NCD Clinic, Thoubal, Nodal officer, Dr H Suijit Singh as guests of honour.
NCD Cell Thoubal, Assistant Programme manager Okram Chitra Devi stressed on the topic and elaborated why the day is observed across the world.
CMO, Jayentakumar underlined the rise of diabetic condition in the State, especially among the women while urging all to take precaution and necessary measure to prevent the disease.
Meanwhile, Dr H Surjit Singh spoke on the occasion as a resource person.
Later, a free blood screening was also conducted.
