Imphal, May 04 2023:
The All Assam Manipuri Students' Union (AAMSU), HQ Rongpur Pt II, Madurgram, Silchar has informed that the union is keenly observing after MZP's Press Release dated, April 30, 2023 regarding a recent situation that took place at Churachandpur in Manipur.
"As we know that the Manipur Government has no discriminatory intention to evict any ethnic community from their own legal settlements.
It is also an undeniable fact that in Manipur there are encroachments in some areas both in Hills and Valley.
The Government has started to evict those people either tribe or non-tribe equally both in hills and plain areas if anyone occupies the land illegally whether it is wetlands, protected forests, wildlife sanctuaries and reserved forest as per rule of law", said a release issued by AAMSU.
The student union continued that it had seen inclusive development both in hills and valley under the dynamic leadership of the people's CM of Manipur, N Biren Singh.
AAMSU stated that regarding implementation of ILP both in Mizoram and Manipur, there is no need to explain any more as it safeguards the interests of Mizoram more as a protected land than Manipur.
It also conveyed that the derogatory remarks made by some individual/ group without realising the proper objectives and going through ground reality of the steps taken by the Government of Manipur as unfortunate & provocative.
"Let us try to keep peace, harmony and brotherly feeling amongst us without any derogatory remark against any ethnic group in the interest of the region, failing which we will also not remain as a silent spectator from outside Manipur", it concluded.
