Imphal, May 04 2023:
The Kabui Union, Manipur (KUM) has said that they did not extend support to the Tribal Solidarity March which was taken out yesterday and appealed to the people, especially in valley districts, to not take Kabui as their adversary.
In a statement, KUM said that the attitude shown by the protesters in yesterday's rally only exposed their lack of knowledge of their roots.
KUM also said that they always stand for the indigenous brethren with whom they have been living in the State for centuries.
Saying that every person or a group of people have the right to express their grievances peacefully, KUM maintained that yesterday's violence could have been avoided had the rallyists not been given free hands.
Asking why the Government didn't take up any security measures for the safety of the Meitei populace even when persons armed with sophisticated weapons, possibly cadres of SoO group, took part in the rally, KUM said that there was a lapse on the part of the Government.
The Union then extended solidarity to the victims of yesterday's violence.
