The tussle between street vendors and licensed vendors at Khwairamband Keithel turned ugly after a street vendor was allegedly poked on her head by one licensed vendor using a pointed iron rod.

Addressing media persons at the office of HRLN at Paona Bazar here today, the injured street vendor Saikhom Ngangbi said that the incident happened at around 3 pm yesterday at Khwairamband Keithel.
The licensed vendors have been conducting drives to chase away the street vendors since yesterday.
As usual she was selling goods, but suddenly the alleged attacker Mangi poked on her head with a sharp iron rod.
Other licensed vendors also joined Mangi in driving out the street vendors, she narrated.
Ngangbi further decried the highhanded behaviour of the licensed vendors, and demanded the authorities concerned to take necessary action against the attacker.
Another street vendor said that both Traffic Police and licensed vendors behave like hooligans and they harass them to the most extreme.
They are now unable to meet their ends owing to ill-treatment meted out to them by police and licensed vendors at Khwairambam Keithel, she lamented.
