Rev Dr Hupuabou Newmai passes away

Noted personality of Liangmai tribe, Rev Dr Hupuabou Newmai passed away last Saturday at Tamei sub divisional headquarters in Tamenglong district, Manipur, after a brief illness.
He was 72.Rev Dr Hupuabou was the doyen of Liangmai tribe when it comes to the area of upliftment of the community.
He was respected by the people for being a humble, cheerful, mild and soft spoken person and the Liangmai community known him for his, maturity and wisdom.
He was a popular Christian preacher, too.
Born in a far-flung village called Nheng on April 15, 1946, Rev Dr Hupuabou Newmai was the executive secretary of Liangmai Naga Baptist Association (LNBA) from 1973 to 1993.He was also the chief functionary, development department of LNBA and director of Elim Christian Children Home, Tamei.
Rev Dr Hupuabou was also executive member of Zeliangrong Baptist Association (ZBA) from 1980 to 1983 and executive member of MBC way back in 1985.He was also executive council member of CBC-NEI.
Rev Dr Hupuabou had also held various responsibilities in so many other organisations and committees.
Rev Dr Hupuabou did his study (theology) from Hindustan Bible Institute, Madras (1968-1971).Rev Dr Hupuabou had participated in various programmes and workshops.
In 1986, he was also one of the participants of Leadership Training, Haggai Institute, Singapore and also a participant of Leadership Training at Asian Rural Institute, Japan in 1987.He had also participated in Sustainable Agriculture, Training at Chiangmai in Thailand in 1995 and in the 10th South Asian Fund Raising Workshop in Kathmandu, Nepal in 1998 .
