AR finish runners up at 7th AD India Police Archery Championship

Imphal, January 21 2019:
Assam Rifles Archery team finished runners up at the 7th All India Police Archery Championship which was held at Ranchi, Jharkhand from January 15 to 19, 2019 featuring a total of 22 teams from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and State Police Forces participating in it.
The Assam Rifles Archery Team comprising of 12 men and 6 women archers took part in the Indian, Recurve and Compound events at the said championship and claimed a total of 8 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals to seal overall runners up title.
The men's team finishing runners up while the women's team were able to claim second runners up.
This is the first time that Assam Rifles achieved a podium finish in this event and narrowly missed the winners trophy even though they had the same number of gold and silver medals as winners BSF, said a statement of IGAR (S) .
The men's team clinched a gold medal and the mixed team of Rfn Zhokhoto Demo and Mahila Rfn SP Lidiya won silver medal, both in the Indian round.
Apart from the medals won by the archers in the team event, Rfn G Robert Singh won 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze in individual compound round while Rfn Demo fetched 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze in Indian round.
Rfh N Subhachandra Meetei won 1 silver medal in Recurve round, Rfn P Heroba Singh claimed a bronze in Indian round and Mahila Rfn Lidiya won 3 gold medals in Indian round event.
