Salai showers aid to extremely deprived family

Imphal, January 21 2019:
Salai Holdings Private Limited extended aid to the family of one Salam Premkumar of Kabo Wakching Makha Leikai, Bishnupur district, who is presently undergoing treatment at JNIMS for lungs and abdominal issues.
Salai Holdings presented essential commodities along with a cash of Rs 15000 to Tombirei, w/o S Premkumar today and assured to repair Premkumar's house for free.
Members of Salai board of directors along with media persons visited Premkumar's residence under the supervision of Salai Holdings Private Limited's chairman and managing director Narengbam Samarjit.
The initiative was taken up under the Corporate Social Responsibility programme of Salai where essential commodities including rice, gas cylinder and stove, quilt, kitchen utensils, a charcoal bag, basic clothing along with a cash of Rs 15000 were handed over to Tombirei.
Kangjam Roshan, one of Salai's board member while speaking to media persons, said that Salai chairman and managing director Narengbam Samarjit had directed the board members to help the family in need, when he learned about Premkumar's health situation and the hardship of his family through media.
Assuring that Salai will be repairing his house at free of cost considering its poor condition, Roshan said that all possible help will be extended to the family in the near future as well.
Meanwhile, Salam (o) Tombirei (32) told the media persons that her husband is a poor farmer and the family is living a hard life.
They have three sons and one daughter, she said adding that the eldest son is reading in class VII, second eldest son is in class II but the youngest son has not started schooling while the only daughter is four months old.
Premkumar, while carrying the responsibility of running the family had to work hard and skip numerous meals, Tombirei said adding that there are also times when there was no wood to use for cooking and instead used hay.
After some time, Premkumar started having problems at liver and stomach and his haemoglobin count started to decrease but he did not go for immediate treatment and bore all the pain for almost eight months owing to lack of money for treatment, Tombirei narrated.
Eventually, Premkumar became bed ridden for the past two months and it was only yesterday that the wife of local MLA admitted him to JNIMS after learning about Premkumar's condition through media and also extended monetary help to cover the medicine bills, she said.
On the other hand, Nambol Municipal Council Councillor Pateshwori and one Basanta and his wife extended a sum of Rs 2000 to Premkumar.
Extending heartfelt gratitude to all, Tombirei said that all the valuable assistance and aid from different individuals, especially Salai Holdings, who have presented important essential commodities and assured to repair the house as well, are the blessings of God.
She wished Salai Holdings Private Limited to be prosperous and successful in future endeavours.
