12-hr curfew promulgated in Indo-Myanmar border areas

The Chandel District administration has imposed 144 CrPC within three km belt along the Indo-Myanmar border from 5 pm to 5 am everyday for a period of six months from October 16 onwards.
The District Magistrate Robert Singh Kshetrimayum in an order dated October 15 said that 144 CrPC has been imposed following credible inputs about infiltration from across the border by "militant groups and illegal export of commodities from Myanmar side" into the Manipur sector of the border areas during night hours.
The movements especially during the night hours may create law and order problems in the State which needs to be restricted at the border belt to stop such illegal activities, said the order.
No person including local hunters shall move in the jungle within the limit of the territory in actual control of India in the district in the hours specified without giving prior intimation to the Company Operation Base (COB), Temporary Operating Base (TOB), Commander of Assam Rifles/Indian Army deployed in the area, said the order.
The order has also prohibited carrying of firearms for the purpose of hunting, fishing or any other purpose whatsoever within the limit of the territory mentioned without prior intimation to the Company Operation Base, TOB Commanders of Assam Rifles and Indian Army deployed in the area.
Similar order was also issued for Ukhrul District on October 12 .
