Imphal, March 14 2014 :
Villagers of Chingjaroi Khullen and Chingjaroi Christian village has cautioned the Government that they would be compelled to resort to any form of intense agitation if necessary steps are taken up to revamp the road from Razai Khunou to Chingjaroi Christian village within March 15 .
Speaking at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, Chingjaroi Khullen Headman Francis A Shimray said that construction of 12-km long road started in 2010 under PMGSY.
However the work stopped suddenly after completion of earth work on a 3-km stretch, he added.
Later, it came to the notice of the villagers that the work was cancelled by a decree of the Imphal Bench of Gauhati High Court.
However, the Court verdict clearly mentioned that the work must be executed by floating a fresh tender, he added.
Saying that the road is the only connectivity of the two villages with the outside world, the Headman said that the villagers would be compelled to resort to any form of agitation if the matter is not settled within March 15 and do the needful to commence construction of the road.
Clarifying that the villagers do not favour any particular contractor the Headman said that their humble request is to solve the problem at the earliest.
