Imphal, March 14 2014 :
MPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has stated that Congress would secure majority and the coalition headed by the party would retain power at the Centre after the 16th Lok Sabha
election.
Gaikhangam was speaking at a State level political awareness campaign held at Congress Bhavan here today under the aegis of Manipur Pradesh Congress Seva Dal.
He went on to assert that Congress is one party which needs no introduction to the people of the country.
People know the true character of Congress party and it never goes on emotion or sentiment.
The party need not go for high decibel poll campaign.
Congress party would secure majority in the 16th Lok Sabha election and a coalition headed by the party would form Government at the Centre.
This is not day dreaming but the truth, Gaikhangam asserted.
For Congress party, election campaign for the Lok Sabha election is almost over.

Claiming that Congress candidates Thangso Baite and Dr Meinya would retain their respective seats, the MPCC president said that the party has already campaigned for the two candidates in a manner suitable to the soil of Manipur.
There is no purpose for organising extensive or massive poll campaigns.
The party has been striving to ensure 33 per cent reservation for women both in Parliament and State Assemblies.
But the women reservation bill could not be passed every time the bill was tabled in the Parliament because of objection by opposition parties.
This showed that no other party is concerned with the rights and welfare of women as Congress party does.
MP candidates Dr Th Meinya, Thangso Baite and All India Congress Seva Dal organiser PA Gurung were also present at the gathering.
Dr Th Meinya said that democracy would be meaningful enough only when the people are empowered adequately.
Since Congress came back to power at the Centre in 2004, the party has been working to empower people by enacting the Right to Information Act.
The party is also working to ensure free and compulsory education to all children across the country by implementing the Right to Education Act.
The Congress-led Government is implementing many other welfare programmes.
Dr Meinya further asserted that Congress party would spare no efforts in order to get the anti-corruption bill passed.
Thangso Baite said that Congress candidates would win the 16th Lok Sabha election with greater margin as compared to the previous Lok Sabha election as there is no leadership or disciplinary problems within the party.
Gaikhangam later appealed to all the people to attend AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi's election rally at Imphal scheduled on March 19 .
