Imphal, March 14 2014 :
In case you have misplaced or lost your Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC), you can exercise your franchise by simply using a voter slip during voting in the ensuing Lok Sabha Polls, informed Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur today.
Participating in a discussion on spreading awareness among voters ahead of the scheduled Lok Sabha polls for the Inner and Outer Parliamentary Constituencies, CEO O Nabakishore said a voter does not need to get embarrassed over losing or not possessing an EPIC as everyone can simply give votes on the production of a voter slip on the polling day.
He said voter slips will be distributed to every voter ahead of the polling day and the same can be collected on the polling day too from near polling stations.
The discussion was held at the Conference Hall of the State Secretariat here.
It was attended by representatives from various NGOs and over 100 local clubs.
Nabakishore asserted that smooth conduct of the elections requires cooperation and responsibility of NGOs, local clubs and other social organisations.
As part of the proposed awareness on the Lok Sabha polls, banners and T-shirts will be widely distributed to all the local clubs to use them during the upcoming Yaoshang sports festival and this will be done by the State CEO office, he said.
Different words that can be used as awareness among the people on the polls will be inscribed on the banners and T-shirts, he added.
Nabakishore said that people should enjoy their voting rights without any fear and they should also have a clear understanding of the Lok Sabha polls.
"We always need to make a free and fair election," he said.
