79 companies of CPF to be deployed for Outer LS polls

Manipur Chief Electoral officer (CEO) O Nabakishore on Friday said nearly 79 companies of the Central Paramilitary Forces will be deployed for the scheduled Lok Sobha election in the Outer Parliamentary Constituency.
Personnel from Manipur Police and Village Defence Force (VDF) will also be used to take up security measures during the polling.
The voting for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency has been scheduled for April 9 .
The Government is focusing on the measures to be taken up for enhancing security for the polling in the constituency, O Nabakishore, CEO, Manipur said.
He said formal steps are being taken to deploy nearly 79 companies of the Central Paramilitary Forces for the polling in the Outer Parliamentary Constituency.
The CEO informed that out of the 79 companies, 39 are from among the companies already on duty in various parts of the State while the 40 companies are from outside.
Nabakishore said the 40 companies from the Paramilitary Forces from outside will be arriving soon in the poll-bound State.
The forces will be deployed in the polling stations in the remote hill areas, he said, adding that in addition to this, personnel from the State police and VDF will also be used for providing security to ensure smooth conduct of the polling.
He also informed that the Government is focusing on taking up preemptive measures to thwart any untoward incidents in the polling stations.
A total of 17, 39, 005 voters are officially entitled to exercise their franchise as of January 15 this year.
Of this, 18.86 percent are in the age group of 18 and 25.The number of eligible female electorates is 50.95 percent.
A total of 8, 14, 828 voters are given the right to exercise franchise during the polling in Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency while 8, 45, 177 voters are entitled to vote in the Inner Parliamentary Constituency whose voting has been scheduled for April 19.Out of the 28, 89, 267 voters of the State, 14, 58, 305 are male electorates while 14, 38, 962 are female electorates.
In respect of the Inner Parliamentary Constituency, the total number of voters is 17, 99, 005 out of which 8, 52, 918 are male electorates and 8, 86, 087 are female voters.
So far, Electoral Photo Identity Cards have been given to 17, 19, 060 people.
The number of male EPIC holders is 8, 44, 326 while that of female holders is 8, 74, 735.Currently, process for issuing of EPIC is underway.
