Performing last rites doesn't mean we have backed down: JAC

The last rites of Moirangthem Nilamani Singh (56) of Bishnupur Ward no 3 Maning Leikai who was found dead at his farmhouse on September 11, was performed today.
JAC against the torture killing of Moirangthem Nilamani Bishnupur Ward No 3, convener, Ch Gopal Singh said the lifeless body was claimed to protect it from being declared as an unclaimed by the Government.
Performing the last rites doesn't mean the case is over or the JAC will back from its demand, he said adding that there is not a slight change in the resolution taken by the committee as well as the family and localities of Bishnupur Ward no 3 Maning Leikai.
The resolutions taken were ostracising the accused from the locality and rewarding befitting punishment to them.
If the authorities concerned tried to divert the case, they must take full responsibility for all eventuality, he cautioned.
It may be mentioned that the three accused namely Namoijam Tomba (60) of Bishnupur Ward no 3 and his two sons, Sunder (45) and Romesh (34) have surrendered to Nambol police.
