Imphal, November 10 2016:
Even as the State Government is yet to receive any respite on the contentious issue of upgrading Sadar Hills and Jiribam into full fledged districts following its failed attempt to inaugurate Sadar Hills as a district some time last week, the Pherzawl ADC demand committee has now charged the Government of nepotism and insisted they be treated at par with the others, reports our CCpur correspondent.
The Pherzawl ADC Demand Committee has today renewed their petition to upgrade Pherzawl ADC into a full fledged district claiming that it merits to be a full fledged district on all counts.
A memo of the committee said their legitimate and genuine demand expressed in a memorandum submitted earlier was fully endorsed by all leaders of different communities living within Pherzawl ADC jurisdiction but remains unattended till date.
'While the other ADCs were under process for upgrading them to the status of full fledged districts, we feel that the State Government has neglected the case of Pherzawl ADC,' alleged the committee and renewed their call for carving out a new district from Churachandpur.
The committee further claimed that their demand is based on equality, peace and harmony in the State but warned that failing to fulfil the aspiration of the people may attract undesirable consequences for which the Government shall
be held responsible.
