'Saving people's lives top priority of Health Dept"

Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar Singh has said that the Health Department sets saving people's lives as its top priority.
Speaking as the chief guest at the World Health Day observance held today at Indian Medical Association (IMA) Hall, Lamphelpat, Minister Jayantakumar maintained that no one can escape from the jaws of death but the Government keeps its top priority to save the life of people.
Every people have to enjoy the right to life which is one of the most important fundamental rights.
To make our life secure is an essential duty of the Government, he added.
He also expressed the need for availing better health services in the remote areas, saying that the Government is trying its best to provide better health facilities to remote areas of the State especially in the interior hilly terrains.
He appealed to those who are in the medical profession to follow professional ethics and maintain sincerity while serving the public.
The observance was jointly organised by the Health Department and Indian Medical Association, Manipur Branch on the theme "Universal Health Coverage, Everyone Everywhere".
During the function, Minister Jayantakumar distributed State and District level awards including commendation awards to the Best District Hospital, Best Sub-Divisional/CHC and PHCs.
The award includes cash prize and citation.
Thoubal District Hospital bagged the Best District Hospital Award while CHC Wangoi won the Best Sub-divisional Hospital/CHC Award for the year 2017-18.The function was also attended by Dr K Rajo Singh, Director, Health & Family Welfare as president; Prof Th Bhimo Singh, MS, RIMS and Prof Bhogen Singh Akoijam, president, IMA, MSB as guests of honour.
Health officials, doctors, nurses, medical and nursing students also attended the function.
The World Health Day was also observed by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parisahd (ABVP), Manipur along with Tentha Khunou Development Association (TKDA) Club at Light Cinema Hall, Tentha Khunou Bazar.
The function was attended by Dr Ningombam Budhachandra Singh, MO Khongjom PHC as chief guest; Akoijam Bagirot Singh, TKDA Club secretary as president; Narendra Sapam, ABVP National Secretary and Organisation Secretary, Thoubal Branch; National Youth Awardee Ksh Premdash Singh and Members of Tentha Khunou Ward No 15 and 16 guests of honour.
