Ukhrul, April 07 2018:
The Tangkhul Naga Contractors' Association (TNCL), Ukhrul has alleged that the restoration work of NH-102 (A) is today caught in a time warp, not making any progress.
Following strong complaints from the people over the slow pace of work, the TNCL conducted an independent survey to ascertain the reality of the ongoing highway construction work from Talui to Phaibung via Hoomi village, Ukhrul.
A stretch of the highway covering 50 kms is executed by two different work agencies (M/S Shongvah Thanmi and BIPL).
The project is to be completed within 18 months and the work orders for the same were issued in October 2016, said TNCL and added that the timeline to wrap up the work expires in April 2018.But the work is nowhere near completion, said the contractors' body.
The highway has no proper drainage and culvert and thus movement of heavy, loaded vehicles during rainy season will not be feasible stated the TNCL.
The Ukhrul-Tadubi road, NH 102(A) covering a distance of 115 kms will be the shortest route from Ukhrul district to Nagaland via Senapati.
Tangkhul Naga Contractor Long (TNCL) further condemned the act of NHIDCL in tendering fresh bids for NH-150 from Yaingangpokpi to Finch Corner.
Work over the said portion is presently carried out by BRTF and the work is in progress although yet to be completed.
TNCL further questioned the intention of NHIDCL to tender fresh bids.
It further appealed the authority concerned to cancel or withhold the tender for maintenance of 35 kms with an estimated amount of Rs 10.43 crore from Yaingangpokpi to Finch Corner, Ukhrul.
