Court reserves judgement

Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West has today reserved the judgement of the case pending against Irom Chanu Sharmila till October 5 .
The case was taken up against the anti-AFSPA campaigner by City police station for staging indefinite hunger strike at BT Park demanding repeal of AFSPA.
Sharmila came with some of her supporters to appear before the Court.
During today's argument hearing, the Court heard the submissions of Prosecution and defence counsels and Shamila.
After perusing the submissions, the Court reserved the judgement till October 15 .
During a brief interaction after her Court appearance, the anti-AFSPA campaigner told reporters that she had met the villagers who had been displaced from the foothills of Sendra.
She expressed concern that the villagers have nowhere to go and they are taking shelter at a relief camp.
Sharmila further said that it is unfortunate that the displaced villagers were not given any assistance by the Government.
She came across a child who has the problem of night blindness at the relief camp, Sharmila said and added that the Ashram, where she is currently putting up, would bear all the expenses of the child's treatment.
Sharmila further said that she had also interacted with the members of Wildlife and Habitat Protection Society, Punsilok recently.
Saying that the youth are the section of the society would bring a change, Sharmila thanked all those who had extended support to her.
Sharmila broke her 16 years long fast after she furnished the PR bond of Rs 10,000 on August 9 last.
