Imphal, September 05 2016:
Nagaland police have seized around 1000 kg of Ganja from an oil tanker (MN06-T-0734) coming from Imphal at Phesama check post under Khujuma police station at around 8.30 pm yesterday.
The banned item was found divided into 151 packets and hidden inside the empty tank of the vehicle, said a source.
The driver, identified as Th Chaoba, tried to flee the spot when police checked the vehicle.
However, police chased and managed to arrest him, added the source.
It is said that the owner of the oil tanker is a functionary of All Manipur Petroleum Products Transporters Association.
The incident has raised a serious question against IOC officials at Imphal as they are said to be the authorised officials to lock and open the oil chambers of oil tankers at oil depot in the State capital.
The oil tankers usually leave Imphal after IOC issues token and permission.
