Imphal, September 05 2016:
Rectification process of the errors and anomalies committed in the process of registering beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) is on the verge of completion, claimed CAF&PD Minister Ksh Biren.
Answering to a call attention motion raised by L Ibomcha about the State Government's failure to implement NFSA in the State, Biren said that the NFSA was launched in the State after district administrations uploaded the list of beneficiaries in relevant websites.
Before NFSA was launched in the State, people were buying rice from markets at Rs 25 to Rs 30 per Kg.
As such, the Government intended to launch NFSA as soon as possible.
But the list of beneficiaries uploaded in websites was found to be lacking a large number of beneficiaries.
At the same time, the Government was buying rice from FCI and it was stocked since April.
On enquiry into the factors which led to such huge errors in the lists of beneficiaries, it was learnt that the error was committed at Delhi.
The errors have been rectified and all problems have been solved, claimed the Minister.
Informing that verification of AAY beneficiaries would be completed shortly, Biren appealed to all PDS agents to lift and distribute rice to NFSA card holders.
Ration cards for the left beneficiaries would also ben distributed soon.
Raising the call attention motion, L Ibomcha said that some people saw MLAs as looters even though they were acting sincerely on account of the many lapses in implementing NFSA.
